The Islamic Golden Age, which took place between the 8th and 14th centuries, was one of the greatest periods in human history. During that time, the Islamic world became the center of universal scientific knowledge and philosophy. Islamic philosophy (Falsafa) originated through a harmonious combination of rationalism and monotheistic faith. Islamic scholars not only translated and preserved the works of ancient Greek philosophers such as Aristotle and Plato, but they also arose new ideas and rational criticism that were the foundations of the scientific revolution and the Renaissance of Europe.
